Serenoa repens, also known as saw palmetto or dwarf palm, is a hard-bodied, very slow-growing, and long-lived herb native to the southeastern United States. The berries contain fatty acids, which are the plant’s active components. Saw palmetto helps prevent issues such as benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). BPH causes an enlargement of the prostate gland and results in decreased urine flow. Saw palmetto also assists in inhibiting the action of an enzyme that changes testosterone into the hair-loss-related sex hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Orzax Saw Palmetto contains 500 mg saw palmetto extract and is standardized to contain 45% fatty acids.
